Loop 93 & 94

Quaylink Q1 & Q2

  • The timetable on this service will be revised to improve reliability.
  • There will also be a change to the route around Gateshead Quays. Sage Gateshead will now be served between Baltic and Swing Bridge, with buses running direct between Gateshead Interchange and Gateshead College. This will help reliability as it reduces the number of times the service has to go through the traffic signals around Oakwellgate.

  • Because of planned changes to the road layout in Newcastle City Centre, service Q3 towards Wallsend will now depart from Eldon Square Bus Station Stand E, instead of Haymarket. Journeys towards Great Park are unchanged and will continue to depart from Stand S at Haymarket.
  • Following passenger requests, an additional stop will be added on Gosforth High Street, at Graham Park Road (near to Carphone Warehouse).

Consett, Stanley and North West County Durham

We have reviewed how passenger travel patterns have changed since October 2015, and have listened to ongoing comments and suggestions and are changing a small number of services from 21 May 2017.

In summary, the main changes are:

  • Following passenger requests to make service 6 faster, it will miss out White-le-Head and Burnopfield.
  • Service X70 will run via White-le-Head and Tantobie Road Ends to maintain a service to Newcastle from this area.
  • Venture services V7 and V8 (renumbered M7 and M8) will be increased in frequency to offer more capacity, and to replace the Burnopfield to Metrocentre connection on service 6.
  • New direct service from South Stanley and South Moor to Metrocentre.

We are also planning some changes to the Consett Venture network to improve reliability.

Details of the changes which will come into effect from 21 May are provided below.

Service 6

  • We have received feedback that this service takes too long to get to Newcastle. Therefore, the route of service 6 will be changed to make it faster, by missing out White-le-Head and Burnopfield. This also means a service is reinstated to Hobson.
  • Following this change of route, passengers from White-le-Head and Tantobie Road Ends will still be able to travel to Newcastle on revised service X70.
  • Passengers from Burnopfield to Newcastle can continue to travel on service X70/X71. Passengers from Burnopfield to Metrocentre or Stanley can continue to travel on new services M6 and M7.
  • Early morning and evening journeys will continue to run their current route, serving Burnopfield and White-le-Head. These journeys will be numbered 6A.
  • The service will also have a new look and will be named ToonLink.
