It's that time of year again, with curtains rising on panto season around the region, and there are some great shows to be seen.

Beauty and the Beast at Newcastle Theatre Royal – 26 November until 19 January

For the first time ever the spellbinding pantomime Beauty and the Beast comes to the Newcastle Theatre Royal in a spectacular and enchanting production for all the family, starring legendary Theatre Royal panto stars Danny Adams, Clive Webb and Chris Hayward.


Cinderella at Sunderland Empire – 13 December until 5 January

I’m a Celebrity and Gogglebox star, Scarlett Moffat will be setting up camp in Sunderland this festive season. The much-loved local lass will be stepping into the magical role of Fairy Godmother in the enchanting tale of Cinderella!


Aladdin at Gala Durham
– until 5 January

Streetwise young Aladdin is trying to make his town rich, by marrying a Princess. But evil baddie Abanazar is after gold and riches and world domination. Police Chief Tai Chi is hot on their heels, and even daft laundry lad Wishee Washee, bumbles himself into the Police Force. We take in China, Egypt and Sacriston…. there’s a bunch of mummies, a Genie, and in the middle of it all is crazy Widow Twanky just trying to get the wash clean!


Snow White at The Customs House in South Shields – 27 November until 5 January

As part of Customs House's 25th anniversary celebrations, the Little Panto with the Big Heart presents Snow White. Go and see their take on the classic fairytale.


Aladdin at Tyne Theatre and Opera House  6 December until 5 January

Don't miss Tyne Theatre and Opera House's fun family pantomime, which features a live band and all-star cast, including X-Factor runner-up Macus Collins as the Genie.


Snow White at Empire Theatre in Consett – 30 November until 31 December

The Empire’s smash hit family pantomime returns in partnership with Leah Bell. Following the box office success of previous years’ pantomimes, the much-loved tale of Snow White will be transformed into the fairest panto of them all! Packed full of audience participation, well-known pop songs, dazzling costumes and hilarious characters to create a unique theatrical experience the whole family.


Jack and the Beanstalk at PLAYHOUSE in Whitley Bay
– 30 November until 4 January

Welcome to the world of fairytales, where poor hero Jack and his dotty mum Dame Trott are tricked into selling their beloved cow Daisy for a useless bag of beans. Packed with great songs, amazing dance routines and plenty of laughter for all the family!


Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs at
 Billingham Forum – 1 December until 5 January
