Great value January bus ticket offers now extended

Go North East, the region’s largest bus company, is extending its new year ticket offers so customers can continue to buy the new tickets at great value prices on the bus or in advance on the Go North East app.

  • £3.50 Evening Ticket – unlimited travel for one person after 7pm on all Go North East buses (except X9 | X10 and Night Buses)
  • £6.50 Evening Group Ticket – unlimited travel for up to 4 people after 7pm on all Go North East buses (except X9 | X10 and Night Buses)
  • £8.50 24 Hour Ticket – unlimited travel on all Go North East buses for 24 hours (including N21 and N56 Night Buses) from the time of purchase on the bus or activation on the Go North East app.

The tickets are ideal for shift workers, late night travellers and those on nights out.

These tickets build upon the company’s ‘Better Fares’ campaign which simplified ticketing zones last year, allowing people to travel further from just £5.30 a day and £20 a week (on the Go North East app), as well as the ‘5 to 25’ initiative which extended discounts for young people to everyone aged from 5-years-old up to and including 25-years-old.

Martijn Gilbert, Managing Director at Go North East, said: “We’re delighted to be extending these offers, providing our customers with more great value tickets, helping to support the region’s evening and night time economies and making it easier and more affordable for shift and night time workers to use our buses.

“Buses provide low carbon journeys with each bus having the potential to take up to 75 cars out of traffic jams. A modern clean diesel bus has the same emissions as just 4 average cars, so getting on board can make a real difference to climate change, help ease congestion and using buses also has great health and social benefits.”

Unlike some other public transport, Go North East bus fares will not be increasing at the start of the year. In fact, the region’s largest bus operator will be introducing some new tickets from 2 January to help with any new year’s blues and encourage more people to give the bus a try.

On the Go since 1913

Around 175,000 journeys are made on Go North East bus services every day to travel around this wonderful region. Travelling to work or education, to visit friends and family, to have a night out, or to visit one of the region's many tourist and leisure attractions.

For over 100 years, Go North East has connected the region's towns and villages with the cities of Newcastle, Durham and Sunderland and currently operates across Northumberland, Tyne and Wear, County Durham and into Tees Valley.

Employing over 2,000 local people, with a fleet of almost 700 buses and coaches and an annual turnover of £100m, the company is the regional subsidiary of the Go-Ahead Group plc, one of the UK's leading providers of passenger transport.
