Learn about the North East’s buses and their vision for the future this Wednesday, including fun for all the family
Bus operators from across the North East of England will be holding a public engagement event, including activities for people of all ages, as the launch of ‘NEbus’, the new name for the region’s bus operators’ association, takes places on Wednesday (28 August) in Times Square at Newcastle’s Life Science Centre.
Bus company representatives from Go North East, Arriva North East and Stagecoach North East will be on hand to showcase the work of the operators, including the latest bus types, onboard facilities and their environmental credentials, as well as talking about their vision for the future.
The event, which takes place between 1pm and 4pm, will also include a series of fun and engaging attractions for people of all ages including:
- Slime activities
- Free face painting
- Buzzer game
- Giant outdoor games – including Jenga and noughts and crosses
- Entertainment from Metro Radio
- Giant deckchair and more!
NEbus Chair, Martijn Gilbert, said: “Buses carry more people than any other public transport mode. They are vital to our economy and have the potential to deliver even greater benefits in helping to reduce congestion and improve air quality.
“Our public engagement event is an excellent opportunity for people to come and find out about their local buses and see just how good they really are, as well as our plans and vision to work with local partners make them even better into the future.
“There will be a number of fun and engaging activities for people of all ages, including giveaways, games and even the opportunity to sit in the cab of a bus!”
