Open-top buses set to spread sunshine cheer and happiness

The day has finally come... we now have our open-top buses out running on some of our normal bus routes to spread some sunshine cheer and happiness, and fresh air upstairs, amongst the travelling public of the North East.

The buses will be on our Angel 21, Fab 56 and Cobalt & Coast 309, 310 & 311 services and are planned to continue on hot days throughout the school summer holidays. Standard fares and normal ticket arrangements apply.

These buses are planned to operate on set journeys but are subject to availability and short notice change (see list at the bottom of this page). Our hardworking depot teams will do their best to put these buses out for customer enjoyment on every warm day.

All our buses are subject to extra cleaning and have full covid-secure safety arrangements on board. Our vast network of local bus services is ready to transport all people who need to use our network now and for any journey purpose.

Most routes are now back to full service levels and our website and app have been updated with the latest timetables and tools to plan journeys around quieter times and check how busy buses are.

We've also achieved the independent Visit Britain ‘Good to Go’ accreditation in recognition of our covid-secure efforts.

Please remember that face coverings are now mandatory on public transport unless you have a valid reason not to wear one, in which case we ask you to show a pass which can be downloaded here.
