Roadworks at North Road and Milburngate in Durham from 3 October

Starting on Monday 3 October 2016, Durham County Council will close North Road below the bus station exit and part of Milburngate, while new footpaths are installed and work takes place at The Gates shopping centre.

The road closures will be from 3 October 2016 until 30 November 2016 and 3 January 2017 until 19 February 2017, with the roads being reopened to traffic for the Christmas and New Year period from 1 December 2016 until 2 January 2017.

  • Services 13 and 14 will run to and from Durham Bus Station, with stand A having been allocated for their use. Journeys from Durham to Langley Park will run via North Road, calling at the County Hospital/Western Hill and St Leonard's School bus stops.
  • Services 15, 15A, 16 and 16A will run to and from Durham Bus Station via North Road, calling at the County Hospital/Western Hill and St Leonard's School bus stops in both directions.
  • Services 20, 20A, X20 will run to and from Durham Bus Station via St Godric's Road and revert to their standard routes via Leazes Road, however, due to a delay with the installation of bus shelters at Leazes Bowl, buses to Sunderland and South Shields will continue to run via Claypath, calling at the Millennium Place bus stop in Claypath until Durham County Council completes this work, which will be between Monday 3 October and Thursday 6 October 2016.
  • Service N20 to Carrville will leave from North Road temporary stop B adjacent to the Methodist Church, then run via St Godric's Road to Milbungate Bridge.
  • Service N20 from Carrville will run via St Godric's Road, through Durham Bus Station onto North Road and terminate at temporary stop A beside the Bus Station Shops.
  • Service N21 to Newcastle will leave from North Road temporary stop A beside the Bus Station Shops, calling at the County Hospital/Western Hill and St Leonard's School bus stops. Service N21 from Newcastle will run through Durham Bus Station onto North Road and terminate at temporary stop B adjacent to the Methodist Church.
  • Service X21 Monday to Saturday evening and Sunday journeys will be routed via St Godric's Road and Milburngate Bridge, however, due to a delay with the installation of bus shelters at Leazes Bowl, buses will continue to follow the Monday to Saturday daytime route via Neville's Cross until Durham County Council completes this work, which will should be between 3 and 6 October 2016.
  • Service X22 from Metrocentre to Durham will terminate in Durham Bus Station.
  • Service 59 from Wheatley Hill to Arnison Centre will run via Milburngate Bridge, Castle Chare, through Durham Bus Station to temporary stop A adjacent to the Bus Station Shops and North Road, calling at the County Hospital/Western Hill and St Leonard's School bus stops. Service 59 from Arnison Centre to Wheatley Hill will run via North Road, Durham Bus Station, St Godric's Road and Milburngate Bridge, however on Sunday 2 October 2016, due to a delay with the installation of bus shelters at Leazes Bowl, buses to Wheatley Hill will run via Claypath, calling at the Millennium Place bus stop in Claypath, St Hild Roundabout, Leazes Road and New Elvet Bridge.
  • Service 128 from Beamish Museum to Durham will follow the current route via North Road, Durham Railway Station, Sutton Street and A690 Link Road to Durham Bus Station. Service 128 from Durham to Beamish Museum will run via Durham Railway Station, Sutton Street, A690 Link Road, Durham Bus Station and North Road, then the current route. The bus stops at County Hospital/Western Hill and St Leonard's School will be served in both directions.
  • Services 204, 208 and 265 will run to and from Durham Bus Station via St Godric's Road, also revert to their standard routes in the Claypath and Leazes Bowl areas.
  • Service 265 at 4.07pm from Framwellgate Moor to Seaham on Schooldays, after leaving Durham Bus Station will run via St Godric's Road and Milburngate Bridge to Claypath, then follow the normal route.
