South Shields Interchange opens on 4 August

The new bus and Metro Interchange in South Shields opens on Sunday 4 August. 

The current bus stops at Market Place, Chapter Row, Keppel Street and Denmark Centre will be closed. This means the route buses take in South Shields will change, along with the stops which are served. There will also be minor changes to the times buses arrive and depart South Shields because of this.

Services will continue to enter South Shields from Westoe Road by passing the Town Hall, then onto Fowler Street. Services will enter South Shields Interchange from Fowler Street, and all journeys will terminate at the Interchange.

Services will start from South Shields Interchange, then picking up at the bus stops on Coronation Street. From Coronation Street services will turn left onto Station Road, left again onto Crossgate to South Shields Town Hall, then right and onto normal route on Westoe Road.

All services will set down on Fowler Street and South Shields Interchange. All services will pick up at South Shields Interchange, Coronation Street, Station Road and Crossgate.

The new Interchange will have a cafe, bike storage, seated waiting areas and much better information available for customers.
