Enjoy free bus travel to Northumberland beauty spots and reduced entry

From Easter Saturday, a free bus service will connect Newcastle city centre with some of Northumberland’s most beautiful destinations, including Belsay Hall, Bolam Lake, and Wallington. Passengers will also enjoy a 20% discount on entry, making it the perfect opportunity to explore these stunning locations.

The X75 service, is operated by Go North East and supported by English Heritage, which manages Belsay Hall, and the National Trust, which oversees Wallington.

Belsay and Wallington provide the ideal escape from the city, with beautiful grounds to explore, Northumberland’s rich history to discover, and plenty of spaces to unwind with a coffee and cake.

Charlotte Malthouse at English Heritage said: “This is a fantastic initiative that not only encourages our visitors to leave their cars at home but also opens up access for those without their own transport to enjoy this service.

“With the Easter holidays here and the summer holidays fast approaching and a packed programme of events ahead, there's never been a better time to plan a memorable day out to Belsay Hall."

Andrea Wealleans, Wallington’s Visitor Operations and Experience Manager said: “Our partnership with English Heritage and Go North East continues to go from strength to strength.

“Access to nature, beauty and history is more important than ever alongside enabling access for those without a car or those choosing a greener way to visit.

“We have ensured the service is once again free to use and non-members will also receive a discount on admission. We hope to see many new visitors as well as those who have travelled on the service in previous years.”

The X75 service will run every Saturday from 19 April until 6 September 2025, with four departures each Saturday. The first bus will leave Haymarket bus station, Newcastle at 9:30am, and the last bus will return from Wallington at 4:54pm, giving passengers plenty of time to enjoy the sights.

The X75 timetable is available on the Go North East website.
