Press release -

Open top bus tour returns this weekend with 25% off tickets

Go North East has announced the return of the Toon Tour, its open top sightseeing bus around Newcastle. The award-winning tour is back on the roads this bank holiday weekend, with a special launch discount of 25% for those jumping on board on 3, 4 and 5 May.

For the 2025 season, the service will run from 3 May until 28 September. This year, Go North East have reduced ticket prices and improved both the route and the commentary, voiced by local radio legends, Steve and Karen from Hits Radio.

The 55-minute trip starts at Central Station and includes St James’ Park, Ouseburn, Newcastle Castle and the Quayside, crossing the iconic Tyne and Swing bridges. Visitors can hop on and off the bus at 19 different stops around Newcastle and Gateshead.

Daniel Laird, Head of Commercial at Go North East says: “I’m thrilled to announce the return of the Toon Tour. The commentary offers something for everyone, whether you’re into sports, history, culture, architecture or weird and wonderful facts!

“It’s the perfect day out for visitors to the city, as well as locals who want to learn something new about their home city.”

Tickets will normally cost £10 for adults and £8 for students, over 60s, Blue light Card holders and those with a valid Go North East ticket. Tickets are just £6 for children under 16. To celebrate the launch of the service for the 2025 season, tickets will be reduced to £7.50, £6 and £4.50 respectively on 3, 4 and 5 May.

Group tickets and private hire are also available.

Tickets can be bought on the bus, cash and contactless payments accepted, and on the Go North East app.
