Seasonal bus service to Northumberland beauty spots returns this weekend

Go North East’s X75 service connects Newcastle city centre and Ponteland with Belsay Hall, Bolam Lake, and Wallington, giving passengers the opportunity to escape the city and explore Northumberland. The service launches on Saturday 2 May - just in time for the sunny May Bank Holiday weather.

The X75 service, is operated by Go North East and supported by North East Mayor Kim McGuinness and the North East Combined Authority, English Heritage, which manages Belsay Hall, and the National Trust, which oversees Wallington.

Passengers can enjoy a 20% discount on entry to Belsay Hall and Wallington thanks to the Mayor’s Days Out by Bus offer which offers savings across the North East, making it the perfect opportunity to explore these stunning locations.

Andrea Wealleans, Visitor Operations Manager at Wallington said "We are delighted to see the return of the X75 again for 2026. Whether you don't have a car, want to try a greener option, or just want a break from driving, we can't wait to welcome you to Wallington by bus this summer. Meet up with friends, bring the family, or just take time to connect with nature."

Belsay and Wallington are known for their beautiful grounds and exciting programme of summer events, perfect for families seeking a day out in the countryside.

Charlotte Woolley of English Heritage said: “This is a brilliant initiative that not only inspires visitors to leave the car behind but also makes it easier for people without transport to take advantage of the service. With the summer holidays just around the corner and a busy schedule of events coming up, there’s never been a better opportunity to plan an unforgettable visit to Belsay Hall.”

The X75 service will run every Saturday from 2 May until 5 September 2026, with four departures each Saturday. The first bus will leave Haymarket bus station, Newcastle at 9:30am, and the last bus will return from Wallington at 5pm. Adults single fares are £2.50 and passengers aged 21 and under can travel for £1.

The X75 timetable is available on the Go North East website.
