Sunderland girlband take to the top deck in first music video
Go North East donated an open top bus to Northern Daughters for a day so the girlband, who already have millions of likes on TikTok, could film their first music video from the top deck.
Northern Daughters, whose six members range from 14 to 17 years old, have built a significant online following with more than 130k followers on TikTok and 10 million likes on their videos. The band, comprising Izzy Gettins, Lola Waite, Lola Cairns, Annette Ambang, Isabelle Dutton and Molly Daymond, formed in January 2026 after meeting at Inspire Stage School in Sunderland.
They launched their first single Open Arms on streaming services in May. In the music video for the song, which launched on 16 October, the girl explore Sunderland by open top bus, visiting Penshaw Monument, the Stadium of Light, the Northern Spire Bridge and Seaburn.
Go North East supported the band by providing one of their open top buses and a driver for both the Open Arms video and a flashmob event at Keel Square, as part of Sunderland City Council's One Big Summer launch.
Paul Waite, CEO of I-Stage Group (ISG), one of the UK’s leading entertainment agencies who are supporting the band, said: “Go North East were absolutely brilliant from start to finish. It’s genuinely special to see a proud local business backing local talent and getting behind a citywide community project that celebrates Sunderland’s people, culture and growth.
“We’re really grateful to the Go North East team for their support, their energy on the day, and for helping us create something that will live on as a legacy piece for the city.”
Lorraine Petch, the Go North East bus driver who drove the band’s open top bus, said: “It was a real pleasure to drive an up-and-coming girl band, Northen Daughters around Sunderland as they filmed their music video, helping them capture the character, energy and spirit of our city. It was fantastic to be part of something so exciting and to play a small role in supporting their musical journey. It’s not every day that driving a bus takes you behind the scenes of the music industry, and it’s definitely a day I won’t forget!”
