Go North East, the region’s leading bus company, is gearing up for the start of its hugely successful Toon Tour after taking the ‘UK’s Best Open Top Bus’ title. The team marked the occasion by inviting Alex Warner, Chief Executive of Great Scenic Journeys, to join them on a lap of honour around ‘The Toon’.

Go North East brought the gold back from the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) Annual Awards for Excellence on Thursday night, fighting off stiff competition from fellow finalists Transport for London and Reading Buses to win the award for Passenger Transport Excellence.

Top award for local apprentice who has risen to Engineering Director

Colin Barnes, 44 from Sunderland, the Engineering Director at Go North East, the region’s largest bus company, was named ‘Engineer of the Year’ at the routeone Awards earlier this week with judges noting that “he has so much ‘oomph’ it is unbelievable”.
