To celebrate English Tourism Week, Go North East has announced the return of the popular Toon Tour open-top sightseeing bus from Saturday 9 April. The service will run every weekend, bank holiday and during school holidays from Saturday 9 April until Friday 27 May, then daily from Saturday 28 May until Sunday 4 September. It will then return for four further days on 17, 18, 24 and 25 September.
Go North East, the region’s largest bus operator, has repainted one of its modern, low-emission Euro 6, double-decker buses in a special livery to commemorate Her Majesty The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee year.
Go North East brought the gold back from the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) Annual Awards for Excellence on Thursday night, fighting off stiff competition from fellow finalists Transport for London and Reading Buses to win the award for Passenger Transport Excellence.

Thanks to our ongoing recruitment efforts, we’re happy to confirm that our X-lines X1 service will return to normal from Sunday 27 March.
We will be implementing some service changes to better match service capacity to long-term demand expectations.
From Monday 14 March, following customer feedback, we will be making minor changes to the capacity and times of services X85 and 687.

As LGBT+ History Month draws to a close, Go North East has outlined its commitment to continue supporting the LGBTQ+ community.
The bus will be trialled on the service for one week from Monday 28 February, serving Brandon, Durham, Arnison Centre, Chester-le-Street, Birtley, Low Fell, Gateshead and Newcastle.
On Thursday 24 February, between 10am and 2pm, you’ll be able to pop along to Park Lane in Sunderland, where teams from the region’s bus companies will be on hand to have a chat about being a bus driver, and guide you through the application process.
